Replace it, or jump it again?

A battery that won't hold a charge, or one that has already failed a jump start, usually needs replacing rather than another jump. If you're not sure which you need, ask for a jump start first. Your driver can advise on site whether a replacement turns out to be needed.

Signs a battery is on its way out: slow cranking, dim headlights at idle, a battery warning light, or a car that needed a jump recently and is asking for another. Batteries wear out with age, and the heat speeds that up.

The price and what it covers

Battery replacement is $239–$255 for eligible vehicles and batteries, and it covers the new battery and installing it. Battery pricing varies by vehicle and battery type. With the $19 dispatch fee added once, the expected total is $258–$274.

A replacement battery carries a 1-year warranty. Keep your invoice for warranty service.

The price is for the battery and its installation. It doesn't cover other work on the car, since we don't do mechanical repair, so a problem beyond the battery is a job for a shop.

What dispatch will ask

Three things let dispatch confirm the right battery:

  • The year, make and model.
  • Your VIN, if you can reach it. It confirms the exact battery, but it's optional.
  • Where the car is parked, and whether there is room to open the doors and the hood.

Why the price is a range

On some cars the battery sits under the hood and comes out in minutes. On others it's under the rear seat, in the trunk or behind a panel, and trim or a seat has to come out first. That's part of why battery pricing varies by vehicle.

You don't need tools or a garage. You need the car, the details above, and a phone that can take a text or a call when the driver is on the way.
